Quality of life is measured against longevity and consideration is given to expenditure of limited resources. As most of these patients were children or young adults, the book has immediacy for high school students. The epilogue, written four years later, brings closure to decisions made. Young people interested in medicine or the health-care crisis are sure to find this involving.

Customer Review

What I read was way beyond what I had expected. A clear presentation led to a strong understanding of the bottom line in regard to medical care. The cases presented fascinated me; in all cases, I was satisfied with the dispostion of each one. This should be compulsory reading for anyone facing a medical crisis.
This book was recommended to me by Amazon based on prior purchases. and it was right on the mark for me.
